Imagine a moment of comfort, support, and connection… Turn down the lights, light some candles, come with your mat, and comfy clothes, be ready to be taken care of.
Yoga cultivates health and wellbeing (physical, emotional, mental and social) through the regular practice of a range of many different techniques, including postures and movement, breath awareness and breathing exercises, relaxation and concentration, self-inquiry and meditation.
Yoga is an approach to life that values appropriate effort, based on balance and harmony, within each person and with each other.
Mindful movements: Slow, focused and repetitive movements improve balance, range of motion, strength and endurance.
Restorative poses: Restorative poses and their modifications facilitate the deepest level of relaxation, allowing the body to shift into the parasympathetic system. (props are desired and often needed)
Breath awareness and body awareness meditations: During these practices we take the individual inward witnessing their own body and breath to begin reducing the patterns of anxiety, depression and worry.
April Waldrop is our Yoga instructor. She specializes in Urban Zen Therapy (UZIT) which is an integrative therapy program. UZIT classes believes in bringing calm to everyday chaos by interweaving five holistic modalities; yoga, essential oils, reiki, contemplative care, and nutrition.We believe the modalities support a person’s journey through depression, anxiety, and PTSD. We work with our PANIC-e model (pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, constipation, exhaustion) and sadness and isolation. We believe by fostering the mind and body connection, UZIT can be beneficial for mental and emotional healing. We interweave the modalities below into a class setting:
Essential oils are the essence of plants added to the practice to bring comfort and support emotionally, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
Reiki, a vibrational energy, allows beneficial effects on body, mind, emotions and spirit, such as feelings of peace, security, relaxation and well-being. Reiki helps relax the body, which in turn, leads to improved healing and overall health.
Contemplative Care brings you into a container of deepening your awareness, increasing self-insight, cultivating emotional balance, equanimity and compassion around your recovery.
Nutrition in self-care is mindful eating and choosing to pause as you nourish.
Here at Jkruse Therapy we feel that yoga and bodywork are both an integral part of a whole body healing. Where talk therapy heals the inner self, yoga heals the body in ways that talk therapy cannot do. Your first class will be a 30 min complimentary session. In this session you will discuss what you want to achieve, and get to know April. You will be introduced to a few poses, and will be able to experience what a longer class will look like. Each class after that will be tailored just for you. If you would like you can sign a consent so that your therapist and April can communicate on how to integrate your psychotherapy session work with your body work. This will give you ultimate healing in ways you couldn’t achieve with just one form of healing.
April has a special connection with brides, women that have suffered from pregnancy loss, and women in transition.
We honor connection, and feel that you will leave feeling not only connected to your body in a new way, but also being connected, centered, and taken care of.
