Clair Sheldon, LCPC

Hello! I am Clair Sheldon, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I believe that the relationship between you and I is one of the most crucial aspects of treatment. Having that one person who has your back, and unwavering support without judgment is crucial to helping you change.

I graduated with a BA in psychology at DePaul and an MS in clinical psychology from Benedictine University. I specialize treating couples who are struggling with their relationships. I am trained in the Gottman Method which is based on the research of Drs. John and Julie Gottman. After a thorough assessment, you and your significant other will learn to recognize destructive conflict patterns and how to replace these with effective interactions. Interventions promoting intimacy are taught in order to enrich your emotional connections.

In addition to couples work, I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma,  grief counseling, parenting support, and beyond.  In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for.

Other interests of mine include managing stress and empowering women who are navigating significant life changes.  My goal is to teach you how to get off auto-pilot and take command of the driver’s seat.  I want to show you that you can have a voice, and be the person you know you are.

I utilize therapy techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Gottman Therapy.  I also will soon be trained in EMDR.
